Students in Years 7 and 8 at St Aloysius College currently utilise the Maths Pathway platform to consolidate their knowledge and understanding from primary school. This program helps to support students to fill any gaps that may have arisen in their previous learning, so that they feel confident and prepared to continue on with their Mathematics development. Their lessons include one-on-one and small group learning, rich tasks, and an assessment of the students’ effort, accuracy, and growth

The Mathematics Curriculum
Years 7 and 8
Years 9 and 10
In Years 9 and 10, Mathematics teaching focuses on students’ strengths and goals, as well areas for opportunity, so that students feel adequately prepared to take on their Mathematics pathway in their final years of study. We have developed a unique internal program, the Mathematical Electives for Senior Pathways, or MESP, to give students the chance to complete curriculum-aligned lessons that will prepare them for their senior studies in Mathematics, whilst not limiting the students’ future tertiary and professional prospects.
Years 11 and 12 (VCE)
At St Aloysius College, we offer the full range of VCE Mathematics subjects at Units 1–4 available to students:
- Foundation Mathematics
- General Mathematics
- Mathematical Methods
- Specialist Mathematics
Students are able to complete one or a combination of these subjects as a part of their VCE Mathematics program. At St Aloysius College, we regularly achieve at study score median of 30 or above across the Mathematics Learning Area, as well as consistently achieving study scores above 40. The teaching staff are a team of passionate and dedicated professionals with great experience in teaching mathematics, looking forward every day to help grow and develop the mathematical minds of their students.
