Book Week
Each year since 1945 the Children's Book Council of Australia (CBCA) has brought students and books together across Australia through Children's Book Week. During this time schools and public libraries spend one glorious week celebrating books and Australian children's authors and illustrators.
This year's theme is READ GROW INSPIRE. To encourage students to read, explore and navigate their way around the Design Thinking & Innovation Centre (DTIC), students were encouraged and given the opportunity to participate in a range of activities during Book Week. Some of these activities were: A Scavenger Hunt, Book Review, Wanted Poster and Bookmark Design. Prizes (Book vouchers) were awarded for the winners of each competition. Several Year 7 students were particularly enthusiastic about the Scavenger Hunt, especially when they found out there was chocolate involved for all who completed it! A special “Book Week Morning Tea” was held on Friday morning where all students and staff were invited to attend and share/discuss their favourite books.
A very special thank you to two VCE students, Estelle Filia and Olivia Nelson. They have assisted in the organisation of all Book Week activities this year as part of the Work Experience component of their VCE studies.
