Wellbeing and Learning Events

From the Deputy Principal

I wish all our students and their families a safe and enjoyable term break. Our newer students have blended in seamlessly into the St Aloysius student community thanks to community-building events like Opening School Year Mass and International Women’s Day assemblies, sport and art competitions, camps and tours. There have been Mercy In Action events such as Caritas fundraising activities, Catholic Education Week, and a successful House Athletics Carnival.

Among these events teachers have been driving students’ academic endeavour and recently completed Learning Conferences. Schools are busy places, and learning is not limited to students. Our staff will be completing tasks to enhance educational professionalism and make further preparations for our College to embed ‘Visible Wellbeing’ in our programs. These Professional Learning sessions will take place on April 23 &24 with guest presenters, experts in their fields. Our families can enjoy some extended family time with a term break of three weeks, inclusive of Easter and ANZAC Day public holidays, whilst our staff prepare to deliver outstanding learning programs and create positive learning environments.

Our staff are aware of the individual needs of our students both academic and wellbeing. Through these Visible Wellbeing applications and with the foundation of our Mercy Values we are positively influencing each student’s “journeys of excellence”. We are grateful to our parents who communicate with staff in a respectful way knowing that each staff member aims to provide the best for all students. Parents are students most influential models and displaying these values of compassion, respect and hospitality certainly guides students’ interpersonal communications and behaviours even while on campus. We remind parents and carers they have easy access to College policies and other important documents via Engage including Mercy Education-Parent Code of Conduct, ICT Policy and Child Safe Policies. The Victorian Child Safe Standards are also available, and I encourage parents and carers to familiarise themselves with these reminding us the importance of respecting the young people in our collective care.

Influenced by the miracle of Easter with Jesus rising from death, let us refresh and receive energy ready to take on the new challenges and exciting learning ahead. Please check Aloysius Now and Direct Messages from Year Level Leaders for upcoming Parent Forums on Cybersafety, Mother’s Day Breakfast (May 9) our college musical production of Grease (June 26, 27, 28), Community Connect social events just to name a few.

Term 2 will commence Monday 28th April.
