Welcome to 2025

From the Principal

Welcome to 2025

As we step into a new year, I extend a heartfelt welcome to all members of our College community. To our returning families and students, it is wonderful to have you back and to all new families and students a very warm welcome to St Aloysius College — a place where the values of Mercy Education guide us, inspire us, and unite us.

We also extend a special welcome to the new staff joining us this year, and we are excited to see the contributions they will add to our learning and wellbeing programs.

This year, our theme, inspired by Catherine McAuley, is "Never be afraid of the unknown." It encourages us to embrace curiosity and courage as we navigate the opportunities and challenges of 2025.

Pope Francis officially inaugurated the 2025 Jubilee Year of Hope by opening the Holy Door of Saint Peter’s Basilica during the Christmas Mass. ‘Tonight, the door of hope has opened wide to the world’, the Pope proclaimed, reminding the faithful that God speaks personally to each of us: ‘There is hope also for you!’

By intertwining the Jubilee Year’s emphasis on pilgrimage with our 2025 Theme, we can see a shared vision: a transformative journey where individuals and our school community grow in their trust in God, strive for a life filled with meaning, and become beacons of hope for others.

2025 will be a year of progress, the commencement of the strategic master plan and the ongoing development of our facilities will further enhance our ability to provide exceptional learning opportunities.

Below are some photos of the Senior Years’ Campus progress thus far for your interest.

All staff returned on Tuesday 28 January and have been engaged in professional learning and planning sessions.

Louisa Rennie, Mercy Education Chief Executive, addressed the staff and reminded us all of the Mercy Education Mission of Excellence and the Mercy values that guide our work. We are very thankful for Louisa for her presentation and her time to get to know our staff and offer her ongoing support.

On Thursday 30th January I stood at the gates of the school and watched as numerous staff members welcomed back our students and new parents and students, the Year 7 Class of 2025.

With each warm greeting exchanged, each smile met, each introduction made and open eyed excitement so palpable, the 'contagious' grew. The wonder and the expectation was real. Dickens was proven correct - laughter and good humour were still the most contagious! As new relationships formed and connections deepened, the atmosphere of joy and optimism set the tone for a year overflowing with promise and possibility.

I hope 2025 is year of joy and success for all at St Aloysius.
