Conversations with Year 7s
In the last a couple of weeks, I have had the privilege of meeting with Year 7 pastoral groups, engaging in thoughtful discussions about their experiences so far at St Aloysius College. As they embark upon this new chapter, their reflections were filled with excitement, curiosity, and an eagerness to embrace the many opportunities ahead. It was heartening to hear them speak about new friendships and the subjects they are enjoying. They certainly contributed quite a few ideas and one of the major ones was to introduce a 4-day school week. What a brilliant idea!
Catholic Education Week
Next week from Sunday, 16 March to Sunday, 23 March 2025 we celebrate the 2025 Catholic Education Week. This year’s theme is "Arise, shine; for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you" (Isaiah 60:1).
The theme draws inspiration from the broader Jubilee Year 2025, proclaimed by Pope Francis, which has as a focus "Pilgrims of Hope." This year’s theme emphasises renewal, unity, and a forward-looking spirit, encouraging us to embark upon a hopeful journey, embracing challenges with both faith and resilience.
Key Events in the Archdiocese of Melbourne:
- Creative Arts Exhibition: This exhibition will be open for public viewing from Sunday, 16 March to Saturday, 22 March 2025, at Celtic Hall, Catholic Leadership Centre, 576 Victoria Parade, East Melbourne. It will showcase the artistic talents of students, reflecting their interpretations of the 2025 theme.
- Mass at St Patrick’s Cathedral for Schools: Scheduled for Friday, 21 March 2025, this Mass will bring together students and staff for a celebratory liturgy.
Happy Catholic Education Week everyone
