From the Senior Years

This week sees the celebration of some individual achievements in languages and VET fashion and design among our Senior students in Years 11 and 12.

In languages, individual success was achieved by Anna-Maria D (Year 12) and Sienna P-Q (Year 12) in the Dante Alighieri Italian Poetry Competition with both students progressing to the finals of the competition – che bravissima!

In the coming weeks, students in a range of fine arts subjects will be completing their folios of work. These will typically include a showcase of student work that is the culmination of weeks of ongoing and dedicated creative energy.

St. Aloysius College proudly offers a two-year qualification VCE VET Applied Fashion Design and Technology program which is drawn from a national training package recognised throughout Australia. This qualification provides our students with a broad range of skills and knowledge to pursue a career or further training within the fashion industry. Below are photographs of Freya T (Year 12) and Alyssa J (Year 11) presenting their VET fashion projects.

This week also heralds another yearly milestone: the General Achievement Test (GAT) which will take place on Thursday 15 June. This is an important measure for student achievement and is a measure used as part of the moderation of SAC and exam performance. All students completing a Unit 3-4 subject sequence in Year 11 and 12 complete the GAT and we wish them all the very best.

Finally, there are a number of supports on offer for VCE students that parents can be aware of so that their daughters’ learning is maximised in the final weeks of Term 2 and into Term 3. Notably, weekly support sessions for Year 12 from past student and alumna Elise Ho (Class of 2021). Elise achieved amazing results in English, Literature, Further Maths, Studio Arts (Art Making), Psychology and Biology.
