Exam Support

From Year 10

As Year 10 examinations continue, students are demonstrating commendable perseverance in their efforts to perform to the best of their abilities. It is important to maintain this momentum and encourage students to continue doing their best in preparing for their senior years. Year 10 students are also encouraged to incorporate stress-reduction techniques into their routines, ensuring they maintain focus and clarity. The journey of growth and learning is equally important as the final outcomes. By embracing every experience, they will emerge not only successful but also more resilient.

Supporting Your Young People Through Exams

With Year 10 exams now underway, this period provides valuable practice for students as they prepare for the formal VCE years ahead. As parents and carers, your support can make a significant difference in building their confidence and resilience.

Here are some tips to help your young person during this time:

  1. Create a Calm Study Space: A quiet, organised study area free from distractions can help students focus. Encourage them to personalise it with the tools they need, whether it’s textbooks, highlighters, or a comfortable chair.
  2. Encourage a Balanced Routine: Study is important, but so are breaks, rest, and exercise. Help them plan a balanced schedule that includes relaxation and hobbies, which can improve focus and reduce stress.
  3. Promote Positive Self-Talk: Exams can be nerve-wracking, so remind them that they’ve worked hard and are well-prepared. Encourage them to see this as an opportunity to practise and build on their skills for the future.
  4. Be Available for Support: Let your young person know that they can come to you if they’re feeling overwhelmed. Sometimes, just listening to their concerns and offering encouragement can make a world of difference.
  5. Support Healthy Habits: Remind them to get plenty of sleep, eat balanced meals, and stay hydrated. Physical wellbeing is linked to mental focus and stress management, especially during exams.
  6. Celebrate Effort: Acknowledge the effort they’re putting in, rather than just the outcomes. This can help them approach exams with a growth mindset, knowing that every experience is part of their learning journey.

These exams are not only a chance to assess knowledge but also to learn how to manage time, cope with pressure, and prepare for VCE next year. We wish all of our Year 10 students the best and thank our families for their continued support!
