From Year 10
It’s hard to believe that we are already nearing the halfway point of Term One!
This week in our Wellbeing session, we had the privilege of conducting our second session of the 7&10 Mentors program, where our Year 10 students truly shined by demonstrating exceptional mentorship skills while leading the sessions. They engaged in meaningful check-ins with their Year 7 mentees and thoughtfully presented each with a card featuring an inspiring quote, valuable advice, and a small treat. The development of these mentorship skills is crucial, equipping our students for their future endeavors.
I want to take this opportunity to commend all Year 10 students for their outstanding leadership during these sessions. Their hard work and dedication this week have been remarkable, showcasing a strong work ethic and unwavering perseverance as they strive for success.

This week, the Year 10s met up with their Year 7 mentees and discussed how their high school journey has been going. It was an amazing opportunity to talk to them after our initial mentoring session. As well as this, some year 10s involved in String Ensemble and Choir went to St Patrick's Cathedral to rehearse for the upcoming beginning of school year mass! So far, Year 10 has been going super well!

This Monday, we spent half of our nourish period in a mentoring session with our Year 7 buddies. We gave them handwritten cards that we made during the STRIVE program and shared advice and tips for navigating the start of Year Seven. Different mentors took different approaches to this, such as opening the conversation by joining groups with others, or demonstrating how to use certain school platforms such as SEQTA or Outlook. Overall, I think the biggest takeaway we want our Year 7 buddies to remember is to just have fun and make the most of Year 7. Whether it was keeping on top of homework and assignments, or finding the right friend groups, these mentoring sessions are a great opportunity for us to reflect on our own time in Year Seven and offer support to the new members of our College community.

On Monday we had another session with our Year 7 mentees! We discussed their camp, their thoughts on high school and how they have been going. This week has been eventful - from the struggles of SEQTA, to the career testing and ACS on Wednesday, and then the Opening School Mass on Friday we are ready for the relaxation of the weekend!
