A focus on wellbeing

From Year 10

In our Wellbeing Session, Year 10 students attended the PPEP Talk® school program. The Periods, Pain and Endometriosis Program (PPEP) is an initiative of the Pelvic Pain Foundation of Australia, funded by the Federal Government Department of Health with support from State and Territory Governments to inform and educate students to recognise and identify period pain and discuss ways to reduce their pain, and how to look for further help if the pain is severe. This allows students to fulfil their true potential without the burden of pain.

The Year 10 students are currently participating in a unit called SEPEP (Sport Education in Physical Education). This student-centred program explores the various roles required for a team to succeed. Students are provided with an array of roles such as team captain, coach, referee, and manager to diversity and further extend their leadership skills. The Year 10 students have been participating in sports such as Basketball, Netball, and Tchoukball.

Global Health is the topic of learning in Health Education for the Year 10s. Students explored the development of the United Nations and analysed the United Nations' goals related to Gender Equality and Climate Change and Climate Action. Under this topic, the Year 10 students are analysing the current health status of Australia by applying their knowledge of health status indicators such as Life expectancy, Burden of Disease and Disability adjusted life years.

Year 10 Leader

In Year 10, it's been a busy few weeks. We just had a wellbeing talk, The Periods, Pain and Endometriosis (PPEP Talk®), and are preparing for Athletics Day on Friday. The entire year level is very involved, with House captains helping put on the day. while also preparing for the end-of-term tests. Despite this, the Year 10s are calm and ready for the holidays coming up!

Over this past week, Year 10 students have been primarily preparing for upcoming tests and assessments. Although there haven't been any major events or activities, much of the focus has been on review and revision, while also learning a few new key topics in class. Teachers have been providing guidance and feedback, and students are dedicating time to study and organise their notes to ensure they're ready for the assessments ahead.

This week the year 10s got an informative talk from a representative from PPEP talk. We learnt a lot about our body and many conditions and symptoms. This talk was very interesting and helpful. We also finished up our summer ACS seasons expect for the Volleyball 5ths who are going to the grand finals! We hope they do well!
Heidi Trollope and Chloe Hamilton, 10B
This past week, we have been diligently preparing for several tests across our various subjects, including Humanities, English, and Science. However, everyone is looking forward to the upcoming Athletics Carnival, and the St Aloysius house spirit has been through the roof!
