From Year 11
To open this newsletter, I would like to congratulate all students who were involved in our mostly sold-out production of Aladdin! I am sure that those who saw the show will agree that the quality of the performance went above all expectations.
Our students have also participated in SCSA volleyball as well inter-school chess competitions. We thank our teachers for their commitment to offering our students a range of opportunities for them to develop diverse skills and meet new people.Students interested in positions of leadership next year (Prefect positions) had a leadership training with Ms Bloomfield & Ms Franze. This was a chance for them to reflect on what leader they want to be, and how they can serve their peers and our Mercy values. Prefect candidates are going through an interview process, and will then have to do a speech at assembly before elections !
In Active Minds, students have worked through an Escape Room game based in the Sydney Opera House which has re-inforced their team building and problem solving skills. In the Coaching sessions, we shared some ways to create better mind maps. The aim of these sessions is to assist students in perfecting their study skills.
This week, we are farewelling Mr Del Mastro, homeroom teacher of 11A, as well as teacher of Legal studies & Media studies. Through his multiple roles, he knows many of our students, and I know that he always engages with them in a caring and supportive way. We wish him the best for his next journey, and welcome Mr Loadman to take his position.
