From Year 12
Year 12 Nourish
Last week in Nourish we had an information session about the General Achievement Test, which will take place on the 7th of September and is required for all year 12s, including year 11s who are currently undergoing a Unit 3&4 course. This session included going through a PowerPoint as a year level and learning about how this year’s GAT will be different to previous years. This session was beneficial because it outlined the test schedule, structure, rules, a background on why the GAT is changing, and what it is used for. We were also given information about how we will prepare for the GAT, especially because it will be slightly different this year, including the different sections of the test. Going forward, we, as a cohort, are much more aware of the GAT process, which will allow for more time to prepare independently rather than feeling confused!

This week in Nourish session, the year 12's were given the opportunity to work on their VTAC applications. While it was nerve-wracking to think about our future, it was exciting to brainstorm about our possible future pathways! The session was very informative and the teachers answered our queries and assisted us in filling in our forms. We all cannot wait to commence this new chapter of our life.

Year 12s in Aladdin
Aladdin Rr was the last musical for three of our year 12s, Kadee Axiak, Elliana Theodore and Abbi Jones. The opportunity to perform as key characters was the most incredible experience and fuelled each of our passions for the stage in unique ways. However, the most rewarding aspect of the production was the sense of family created within the cast and crew. Writing this as a year 12, it feels bittersweet to have met such an amazing bunch of people across each of the year levels and to have formed such close bonds only to be leaving within the next couple of months. But this experience has left such a warm and sacred imprint on our hearts that we will cherish it forever. We feel very fortunate to have spent our last year doing something we love with the rest of the school community.

The College production of Aladdin JR opened on Thursday 21st July after months of hard work and dedication from teachers, cast and crew. Students had the opportunity to work within different production roles and values that helped to bring the show alive. This included Sets and props, in which many Year 12s were involved and had the opportunity to lead the crew in coordinating all the sets and props working with students across all year levels. Backstage also consisted of technical crew which covered sound and lighting, a costume crew and a hair and makeup crew. As part of the hair and makeup crew we ensured that all the cast were looking their best assisting with their hairstyles and makeup for their characters. We also assisted with quick changes during the show. Throughout production week incredible friendships and connections were fostered, which all made it an incredible experience for all those involved. It was also amazing to see our lovely peers; Kadee, Abbi and Elliana shine in their roles and share their wonderful talents.

The VCAL students organised the selling of snacks, beverages and popcorn during the intermission of the musical as part of our Personal Development class. As a team we worked in groups of tea, coffee and popcorn and then the second group worked with the chips, drinks and chocolates. It was such a fun experience to be able to interact with all the people that attended the evenings, to support the students involved with the play, as well as gaining the necessary skills to be able to run a snack table and handle money and lots of people!

SCSA Sports Report
On Friday 13th of May, our school participated in SCSA Basketball at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic centre. We had girls participating from all year levels, representing St Aloysius. All our girls played with determination and positive attitudes reflecting our mercy values. Our Senior, Intermediate and Junior A team all advanced their way up to the finals, but a special mention to our Junior B team who progressed further, to the grand final. Unfortunately, we did not secure the win. We applaud their unrelenting dedication. Congratulations to all students who participated but also to our hard working coaches for getting the girls ready for game day!
On Wednesday, the 27th July, our school participated in SCSA Volleyball at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic center. We had girls participating from all year levels, representing St Aloysius. All our girls played with determination and positive attitudes reflecting our mercy values. Our Junior A and Junior B team both advanced through to the finals, but unfortunately did secure the win. But our Intermediate A girls played in a nail biting game coming back after losing 10 points to secure the win.
A special mention to Amelia Dempsy. Who was awarded the MVP for the intermediate A division.
We applaud their unrelenting dedication. Congratulations to all students who participated but also to our hard working coaches and helpers for getting the girls ready for game day!

On the 21st of July the seniors of St Aloysius College participated in SCSA football, in which we won our first two games against St Marys and Miriam College, to which we progressed to the grand final, but ended up losing 13-9 in a tough battle against Mercy College. It was a day full of teamwork, bonding and laughter. We had Phoebe being a main goal kicker scoring 6 goals for the day with contribution from everyone on the team. Rory was hard at the ball and showed great leadership throughout the day. Overall it was a great day and well done to all the girls who participated.
