A busy start!

From Year 7

Welcome Back

Welcome back to another semester filled with learning, laughter and challenge. Last week as the Year 7s walked through the gates for part two of their journey I felt, for the first time, a sense that these were finally confident and self-assured certified Aloysians. As I walked the halls and checked in and caught up with our students, I could see that many seem to appear settled. A key takeaway from these conversations was that some students really holidayed on their holidays. From France to Indonesia, it seems our students were very blessed over the break.

Semester 2 Changeover

Rest assured ACS Sport will remain the same for everyone, carrying over from Term 2, however, this term we will be swapping some of our subjects. Last term 7D, E and F finished Design Technology and Music and will now embark on Drama and Art, while 7A, B and C have completed Drama and Art and will move into Music and Design Technology. After a strong showing by 7D, E and F during the music performance night, I cannot wait to see how 7A, B and C rise to the occasion later this semester.

Another area of change will be our leadership team. In the coming weeks, a leadership changeover will also take place; with our current Class Captains being replaced by new electees for Semester 2. I want to acknowledge our current team, who have been working diligently in their roles. I look forward to working closely with our new leadership team and anticipate another busy term full of opportunity.

NAPLAN

One of the biggest events for our Year 7 students during Week 1 was the return of their NAPLAN results on the Friday. NAPLAN is meant to see how a student is progressing in their education, and where a school, or even a class, can improve. For individuals, it helps indicate where learning gaps may be and for schools, aids in planning its academic programs. Students were sent home with an envelope that contained their results and we encourage parents and guardians to go through these results. Year 7 students who were absent can collect their NAPLAN upon their return to school.
