From Year 8
We are already well into the term, and it has been wonderful to see so much enthusiasm, hard work, and dedication from our students academically.
Exciting Learning Opportunities
This week, we have seen some fantastic learning taking place for the year 8s. Our students have been engaging in a range of subjects.
We also remind students to make use of the resources available to support their learning, including the College library (DTIC), online learning tools and Academic Consolidation for Everyone (ACS) on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the DTIC.
Below are three student reflections on what they have been learning.
In Maths, we are learning how to convert percentages and decimals. My favourite thing to learn in Maths is fractions because it's challenging and there are different kinds of fractions. Like improper fractions where the numerator is larger than the denominator.
Rohan, 8B
In Food Technology, we made fried rice which contained ingredients of rice, soy sauce, spring onion, egg and capsicum. We have also been learning about the different food groups where dairy, vegetables and fruit. It is important to learn about food groups to help us understand the importance of a balanced diet.
Aine, 8B
Currently in PE, we are doing striking and fielding and this requires teamwork and building stronger connections with others. My favourite thing about PE is that it's fun and I am always learning about a new sport and new friends. I also like how I get to do physical activities inside of school as it’s a natural way to release energy. PE is a fun and inclusive way to build team connections and meaningful friendships.
Austin, 8B
Stay Motivated!
As we continue through the term, we know that staying motivated can sometimes be challenging. Here are some tips to keep your energy and focus high:
- Set small, achievable goals for yourself.
- Stay organised with a study planner and utilise the time management booklet from the Elevate Education seminar.
- Take short breaks while studying to stay refreshed.
- Keep a positive attitude and celebrate your progress.
Thank you to our students, teachers, and parents for all the hard work and support. Let’s keep the momentum going.
