From Year 9
This week and next week Year 9 students are participating in the NAPLAN tests. NAPLAN is the National Assessment Program Literacy and Numeracy. The assessment is a fantastic tool to assist governments, education authorities and schools assist in identifying if students are reaching important numeracy and literature milestone goals. It also helps to provide information about how the education programs are working and can highlight areas for improvements.
The Year 9 students have been very well prepared with a number of practise sessions leading up to the assessments. They have certainly approached the assessments with a sense of maturity. I applaud their cooperative and positive approach to the assessments.
On Friday 10th March students in Year 9 participated in a Clean Up Australia Day activity completing community service hours as part of their Mercy in Action totals, as well as stimulating possible ideas for their upcoming Mercy Projects. Students went around various areas in the local community to pick up rubbish. Sometimes we don’t realise how much rubbish there is until we go looking for it. It was great for students to get involved and hopefully encourage them to do the right thing by thinking about the 4 R’s - rethink, reuse, reduce and recycle.

Today, the Year 9 students went across to Royal Park to pick up rubbish for National Clean up Australia day. We all had so much fun and overall had a great experience working together as a class. It felt so good to know we were doing a good deed for the community and also for the environment.

On the 10th of March 2023 in Royal Park, We 9A as a class put in the time and effort to pick up rubbish for National clean up Australia day. We had so much fun with all our friends picking up rubbish and working all together and with our mates. We picked up a total of 7 or 6 rubbish bags full of rubbish that was dumped on the streets. It was relieving knowing we as a class put in the effort helping the community grounds look nicer with no rubbish on the streets and in the parks.
