From Year 9
As the year draws to a close, we are thrilled to celebrate the success of our Year 9 students as they transition into Year 10 through the Step Ahead program. This milestone marks a significant point in their educational journey as they prepare for the more challenging and rewarding senior years ahead. Last week we had the Farewell 2024 Day, featuring a student-led liturgy, celebrating student achievements through the presentation of awards and our final year level assembly. Students completed ACER PAT Testing and concluded the day with active ACS.
The Step Ahead program has been instrumental in providing students with the academic, personal, and social skills necessary to thrive in the next stages of their high school experience. Year 10 will bring with it increased responsibility and more focused learning, with students delving deeper into subjects that align with their interests and future career aspirations. The Step Ahead program ensures that they are ready for these challenges by providing tailored support in both their academic work and personal growth.
We are excited to see our students take on new challenges, explore their passions, and continue to grow as individuals in the coming year. We wish them all the best as they embark on this exciting next step toward their senior years and beyond.

Step ahead has been really great in helping us transition into Year 10. I was feeling worried about the added workload in Year 10, but our teachers have been really welcoming and supportive of us.

As the school year concludes, it’s important to reflect and look back on how much we’ve grown as Year 9 students. It is also a great time to thank our teachers and friends for being supportive as we advance through the senior years. The two-week Step Ahead program will give us a helpful preveiw of Year 10, helping us prepare for new challenges and responsibilities.

As Year 9 comes to a close, we all anxiously look forward to what new experiences Step Ahead and Year 10 will bring. However, while it’s important to await the future, it is also valuable to appreciate and reflect on the memories we have made as a cohort this year. 2024 kicked off with an exciting interstate trip to Canberra, where we grew close to one another as classmates and friends. We experienced immense house pride all throughout term 1, evident in our participation in the house swimming and athletics carnivals. Term 2 marked the changing of electives, settling into the routine of Year 9, and the hallways being filled with the anthem of ‘We’re All In This Together’, courtesy of the College Musical. Our studies bloomed throughout term 3, with every English class being a hilarious compilation of misspoken Shakespearean lingo. Finally, term 4 brought along tedious exam revision and final assessments, but most importantly, the assurance that we would get through the hardships together. In this past week (in fact, the final one of Year 9), we have witnessed the relief of exams having passed, and the collective efforts to make every last day count. From class parties, to energetic Just Dances, to colourful thank you cards, Year 9 is surely closing with a bang! We’d like to thank all our teachers for making this year an absolute joy to have been through, and of course, the amazing Ms Ma for guiding us with a smile. Let’s make the most of Year 10!
