From Year 8
The STRIVE program focuses on equipping students with crucial skills to foster relationships while navigating changes in friendships, emotions, and digital spaces.
This program provides an opportunity for students to refine essential life skills, including leadership, effective communication, fostering social connections, and nurturing resilience. Over these four days, activities are designed to deepen their understanding of respectful relationships, equip them with the tools to navigate digital spaces conscientiously, and emphasise the importance of consent.
Day 1: Elevate Education provided a study skills seminar with a core focus on:
- Transitioning to high school
- Dynamic reading skills
- Effective note-taking skills
- Conceptual learning techniques
- Independent learning
In the afternoon, the Year 8 cohort participated in a tabloids carnival, engaging in a range of activities such as the three-legged race, tug-of-war, and line futsal. The day concluded with a staff versus class captain futsal match.
Day 2: PROACTIVITY organised a full-day excursion to Flemington Oval. Students engaged in various activities with their peers, including a Ninja Warrior course.
Day 3: Students participated in an interactive seminar delivered by Consent Labs. The seminar supported students in navigating challenges commonly experienced during high school, with a particular focus on consent, healthy relationships, and the safe use of digital spaces.
Day 4: The Year 8 students spent the day connecting with themselves, their peers, and their pastoral teacher through activities such as time capsule letter writing and a reflective goal-setting exercise. The day concluded with a pastoral class quiz and mindfulness activities.
