Mercy Leadership Formation Camp
The 2025 Prefects recently embarked on an enriching leadership camp in the scenic coastal town of Torquay, where they had the opportunity to enhance their leadership skills, collaborate with peers, and immerse themselves in team-building activities that will shape their role as student leaders.
The camp, designed to develop core leadership qualities, featured a series of workshops and outdoor challenges that encouraged the Prefects to think critically, work together, and inspire others. Expert facilitators led the group through sessions on communication, decision-making, conflict resolution, and motivating peers. These practical skills are essential as the Prefects prepare to lead the school with integrity and confidence in the coming year.
Our 2025 College Co-Captains Olivia Mosticone & Sedora Tadele have provided a reflection on the experience.
On Monday our journey to Torquay commenced. The first activities focused on enriching our teamwork and collaboration skills, allowing us to embrace challenges with energy. Sadie Neave described this sessions as ”A fun activity that required teamwork and collaboration!” which perfectly sums up the activities. On Tuesday, the Prefects participated in a vast range of team building activities beside the river that aimed to enhance our collaboration skills as a group. Enjoying the nice beach views we also spent time walking around the town of Torquay. To end our second day, we watched a movie which reflected the leadership skills which we were taught during the day. On Wednesday, unfortunately our journey came to end. We packed up our belongings and prepared our lunch to have it at the beach. Having our lunch at the beach allowed for us to self-reflect on the past couple of days at the Torquay campus. Rachel Kau commented that “today provided us the opportunity to solidify our leadership and teamwork skills”. Overall, this leadership camp taught us the fundamental skills about leadership. As we reflect on our time together, we are ready to demonstrate what we have learnt within the school community. Enabling us to prepare for our future year of leadership!
