ACS Sport Grand Finals
Congratulations to all students on their efforts throughout the ACS winter season! All students displayed excellent skill and teamwork throughout the season. The following teams competed in Grand Finals:
Year 7 Girls Netball B defeated St Leonard’s 25-12
On Tuesday the Netball B Team had their Grand Final against St Leonard's. All season the girls have been working hard, settling into their positions, and improving their game play. All their hard work paid off Tuesday! The game started off close, with each team going goal-for-goal until we inched ahead towards the end of the first quarter. Hannah and Grace worked well in goals with some great distance shots supported by Ava and Audrey on the ring. Heading into the second quarter we changed up the team bringing Ivy on court and changing Gabriella and Theodora in defense, the girls worked hard to prevent goals and got some great intercepts to help bring the ball back to our end of the court. In the third quarter the girls struggled to find their rhythm but were still working hard at stopping St Leonards from getting the goals towards the end of the third quarter they had found their rhythm and were ready to finish strong. In the final quarter we brought Keira back onto the court and swapped our defensive team again, keeping St Leonards scoreless in the final quarter for the girls to take the win. The final score 12-25.
We thank our Year 9 Mercy Rites students Eliza Luke, Scarlett Downie and Poppy Ten Hoopen for helping the girls with their last training session, attending to support the girls in their warmups and cheering throughout the game. Best Players as picked by Eliza were Ava Brazel and Hannah Ten Hoopen.
Well done, girls, on the fantastic game and season!
Year 7 Girls Netball C defeated by St Leonard’s 21-0
The Year 7 Girls Netball C team had the challenging task of travelling out to St Leonard’s for a Grand Final. Going into the game, the team were quite confident as they had matched up well against them throughout their previous encounters. Unfortunately, it was a dominant display by St Leonard’s and the girls couldn’t find a way to get back into the contest. Nonetheless, it was a terrific season by our C team and it was a great opportunity for the girls to experience playing in an ACS Grand Final!
Year 7 Boys Soccer B defeated by Loyola 4-2
Unfortunately, the boys soccer team went down in a great match against Loyola. The boys displayed exceptional effort throughout the season and always turned up to games and training sessions with a positive attitude. It was a great learning experience for the team competing in a Grand Final and we are confident they will bounce back next year!
The remaining two weeks of term 3, students will go into summer sport training.
CGSAV Soccer
The much awaited CGSAV Soccer tournament finally arrived last week, and the students showcased their dedication and hard work that they had put into their training sessions leading up to the event. Their consistent efforts were evident as they stepped onto the field with a blend of confidence and determination!
Throughout the day, our Intermediate and Senior teams competed fiercely, displaying impressive skills and teamwork. Although the results didn’t go our way on the scoreboard, all matches were played in the right spirit. Our Intermediate team finished 5th and Senior team finished 3rd on the day.
Thank you to Chris Needle & Stefan Odachowski for coaching on the day.
