CGSAV Volleyball Spotlight

Intermediate Volleyball

On the 7th August, a group of enthusiastic Year 10 students travelled to Albert Park to compete in the CGSA Intermediate Volleyball. With limited training sessions due to weather and other interruptions the students quickly gelled as cohesive teams. It was wonderful to watch the students support each other on the court. They celebrated together the successful serves, digs and sets but also lifted each other up when things just did not seem to go their way. Both teams had some wins, and losses, some with very close scores. It was wonderful to have coaches from other schools acknowledging their skills but most importantly their sportsmanship. Congratulation girls on your effort!

Senior Volleyball

On the 7th of August, Year 11 and 12 students entered the CGSA Volleyball tournament. Together, the students represented St Aloysius, putting their best effort forward and giving it their all. Senior Team A, consisting of the Year 12s, played their final games as a team, showcasing years of experience and friendships. Unfortunately, they did not make it to the finals. Senior Team B played with only five players on the court. Despite being at a disadvantage, they made the other teams work hard to stop them. They played with smiles on their faces and made some fantastic saves, but also did not make it to the finals. It was a day filled with gallant effort. It was heartwarming to have coaches from other teams commend the skills the students showed, especially with players missing and no substitutes. They represented St Aloysius wonderfully. Fantastic effort from all involved.

Personal Achievement

Congratulations to Oliver Conrad-Smith, William Davies and Zach Mitchell from Year 8 who recently played in the Under 14 Division 4 Grand Final in the WRFL. Playing for West Footscray Roosters, they unfortunately lost by four goals to Altona. Well done to the boys on their efforts throughout the season to make it!
