State Taekwondo Championships
Recently, one of our new Aloysians, Louis Kaing from 7D, has been excelling in the fierce world of Taekwondo. It all began with his impressive performance in the State Taekwondo Championships. Louis placed 2nd in the tournament, achieving dominant wins throughout the day. His hard work had paid off, with Louis training 3-4 days a week leading up to the tournament.
Following this strong result, Louis travelled to Sydney to compete in the Sydney Taekwondo Festival, where he again finished 2nd. When asked about the competition, Louis mentioned that the most stressful part was the “10-hour drive up from Melbourne”. Louis has now qualified for one of the biggest events on the Australian taekwondo calendar, the 2024 National Taekwondo Championships, which will be held in November.
What a great achievement and I’m sure everyone here at St Aloysius will be cheering Louis on when the time comes!

Louis’ Reflection:
Recently, I've been doing a Taekwondo competition. I was representing myself in the Sydney festival and state competition. Bringing home a silver medal was a proud achievement, and though I came close to gold, the journey was filled with thrilling challenges and experiences. The energy of competing has inspired me to continue pushing myself in Taekwondo with new passion and determination.
