Visual Wellbeing
As part of the preparation for the year ahead our staff participated in the first professional development session of Visible Wellbeing. In 2024 both staff and students participated in focus groups to discuss how wellbeing could be improved at the College. Based on their feedback the College has embraced on an 18 month journey that will embed Visible Wellbeing across the College.
Visible Wellbeing is a whole-school program that trains all staff across the school in a wellbeing framework and language, and practices that can be embedded in the learning environments at the College. This transformative initiative focuses on promoting mental health and wellbeing among our school community emphasising the importance of fostering a culture of wellbeing. Visible Wellbeing is grounded in positive psychology and aims to develop skills that help individuals recognise and enhance their wellbeing. Staff were provided with practical strategies for integrating visible wellbeing practices with our students, emphasising the development of resilience, self-regulation, and emotional intelligence. This approach encourages a supportive atmosphere where students can thrive academically and personally. To further support this initiative, staff will continue their training to embed visible wellbeing across the College.
The program is underpinned by an evidence-based framework called SEARCH. This framework covers 6 pathways to wellbeing:
- Strengths
- Emotional Management
- Attention and Awareness
- Relationships
- Coping
- Habits and Goals
