From the Principal
Tuesday, 15 August was the Assumption of Mary, the day Mary ascended into heaven; body and soul. Assumption Day is a public holiday in many countries from Croatia to France, Guatemala to Greece, and from Slovenia to Switzerland!
Science Week
The Science laboratory was filled with enthusiastic students from years 7 to 12 who gathered during lunch on Tuesday, 15th August to participate in Science Week activities.
World Youth Day
My time in Rome came to an end and I don’t think that anything in this world could really top having a private Q&A session with the Pope.
ACS Public Speaking
On Monday, 14th August, St Aloysius College competed in the annual ACS Public Speaking competition, held at Overnewton College. The competition comprised of three categories, junior, intermediate and senior, with representatives from each of the six ACS schools.

Maths Games Day
On Thursday, 10th August, eight students from Year 9 participated in the Mathematical Association of Victoria Games Day at St Albans College.
ACS Girls Basketball
Year 7 ACS Girls Basketball has given the students an opportunity to develop their skills and form friendships. The students are dedicated to their training sessions and on game day display excellent collaborative skills with their peers.
ACS Boys Soccer
The St Aloysius Year 7 Boys Soccer Team has enjoyed a stellar season, winning all their ACS games, often by a margin of 5 goals or more each week. The team is blessed with a passionate and talented group of boys who live and breathe the sport.
Sport Update
What a winter season it has been in the ACS competition. Our students have showed significant improvements over the course of the season. As the winter season draws to a close, we have some of our teams progressing through to Grand Finals.
From Year 7
In English, the Year 7s have begun work on their new text Spirited Away. This text is a 2001 fantasy adventure film, stylised in Japanese animation. It follows the story of a young girl who learns to trust in herself and face her greatest fears.
From Year 8
This week during Nourish, 8A was the first pastoral group to run the first of the Year 8 pastoral-run assemblies. Assemblies are a wonderful space to celebrate success and come together as a community.
From Year 9
The last two weeks have been packed with wonderful learning opportunities across all subject areas in Year 9. I would like share with you some of the wonderful activities that students have participated in.
From Year 10
With no doubt, the highlight for our Year 10 cohort in this fortnight is the Reflection Day. The theme for the day was Journey and Shining Light.
From the Senior Years
On Monday 7 August, Year 11 emerging leaders spoke to the whole school community to put forward their candidacy for Prefect positions in 2024. Numerous staff commented on the maturity, courage, compassion and composure of the candidates.
